Sisyphus on the SeeSaw

'Sleight of mind' poems

Sisyphus on the seesaw is a collection of poems that probe the inherent paradoxes and conundrums in philosophy, psychology, art, and quantum physics

The perceptual paradoxes are revealed through wit, wordplay and psycholinguistics.

After the poem, the reader is left with a hangover...... of questions about the paradox of Self or " I "

Poems

The Symmetree

A tree’s
roots are branched;
it cannot slip underground
or sink/drop into….
because
the branches are rooted
firmly
to the sky.

Zen

If u can’t clap with one hand
how can u clap with two hands?

Cutty Sark

The rigged up jib,
leach and luff….
with its tween deck
fore, main & mizzenmast
t’was the swiftest, and one of the last, tea clippers.

Below the bowsprit
Nannie in her short sultry dress leaps and has got hold
of Meg’s tail.
The dolphin striker hitched to its rigs.

-The Cutty Sark in a bottle!

The Naxal

A circle is formed by points
if a single point starts to push or pull
then soon all the points will roll on to each other
and end up in a pile
or fall flat as a line

- or even, perhaps, set the circle in a revolution.

John Coltrane’s Flute Song

Stylus settles on the LP
The piper will lead us into the forever….
Enter the mirror, Lo! The Universe splits in two
Schrodinger’s cat alive / Schrodinger’s cat dead
The sun should shine at night-.
